Dallas, TX once again let Capitol Hill know that we mean business and we are
holding our elected representatives accountable for unfair actions and
policy towards Eritrea. In a coordinated effort, shimagele Mekete along with
all the local organizations of Dallas hosted an Action Day along with the
rest of the cities across the United States to lobby for Eritrea.
Yesterday, our collective voice was heard and Capitol Hill was scrambling!
It's hard to stand behind your lies when people are pointing out the holes
in your story, and that's what we did! Hilary Clinton's people at the State
Dept were so overwhelmed by the faxes from around the nation, they shut off
their fax machines and even had the audacity to say that "we had nothing to
do with this sanction on Eritrea." When we all know that is untrue! If they
are willing to cast the stone, they should be willing to say I did it and be
accountable- with yesterday's actions we are demanding that they do
just that, and they hate it!
We would like to thank EVERYONE that participated in the Nationwide Action
Day! We would also like to give a special thank you to those that took the
lead and made sure we had the materials we needed to make this event a
success: Your leadership role in providing the materials and laptops ensured
we collected nearly a thousand postcards, emails and Petitions. Let’s keep
up the excellent work and continue to work for our country.
