Seye Abraha issues warnings
Monday, 29 March 2010 12:43 administrator
The former minister for defence who became a dissident has spoken out in the debate on the past diversion of humanitarian aid by the TPLF.
It would appear that Seye Abraha wants to take advantage of the international controversy that has broken out about food aid in the 1980s to the rebels in the Tigray People's Liberation Front. This former TPLF leader and ex-Minister of Defence knows the matter well and has sent several warnings to Prime Minister Meles Zenawi and his team. His message is clear: stop attacking my family and provoking the militants in my opposition organisation, or I could make some embarrassing revelations about you.
Seye Abraha has already admitted that a portion of the international monetary aid in 1985 had been diverted from its aim and was instead used to create companies linked to the Endowment Fund for the Rehabilitation of Tigray and to buy ground-to-air missiles and other military equipment. However, he could be sweetened by the release this week of his brother, Assefa Abraha, after serving a seven year prison sentence for corruption.
