Two murders in Ashdod overnight: Eritrean woman stabbed to death in her home, young man discovered fatally wounded

A migrant worker from Eritrea in her 20s was murdered Thursday night in her house on Ashdod's Rabbi Herzog Street. A neighbor who heard shouting from her apartment called the police, who arrived with MDA paramedics who confirmed her death. In a separate case, a young man was stabbed and fatally wounded.
Another Eritrean worker was located in the apartment of the Eritrean woman and was arrested on suspicion of murder. By the morning he had admitted to the murder and even reenacted the crime.
Investigations revealed that the Eritrean worker knew the victim from his home village, and had planned to marry her. After saving up from his work in Israel, he paid a manpower company the necessary sum to bring her to the country too, so that she could work here. However, when the subject of marriage came up, she refused, and an argument broke out, during which he took a sharp object and stabbed her all over her body.
A policeman who arrived at the scene said there were serious signs of violence on her body, and that "she didn't have much chance" of survival. Police, led by District Commander Alon Levavi, also took testimonies from the neighbors.
Victim's identity still uncertain
A short time after the body of the woman was discovered, MDA paramedics were called to Yosfetal Street where a young man (25) had been found badly wounded. He was taken to Kaplan Medical Center in Rehovot.
Ashdod police say there appears to be no connection between the cases, but are investigating all possibilities. The victim's identity is still uncertain, because no identifying documents were found on his body, and it is not clear whether he was a migrant worker or an Israeli citizen.
Less than a week ago there was another murder in the city when a fight broke out on Saturday night during which Vladimir Andichenko (28) was stabbed to death. A few days later Itamar Dohan (18) was arrested on suspicion of his murder.
