Sunday, 23 May 2010 17:21

Turkish Foreign Ministry Spokesman Burak Ozugergin said on Sunday Turkish
Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu had a tripartite meeting with foreign
minister of Somalia and Eritrea which have hostile attitudes against each
other for long years.

"Turkish foreign ministry brought together Foreign Minister Ali Ahmed Jama
of Somalia and Foreign Minister Osman Muhammed Saleh of Eritrea within the
scope of UN Conference on Somalia held in Istanbul," Ozugergin said.

"From the very beginning, it is the goal of Turkey to listen to the problems
from the parties themselves and assume a stance accordingly," he said.

Referring to problems between Somalia and Eritrea that continued for long
years, Ozugergin said, "this is the first time that both parties meet".

He said the tripartite meeting targeted strengthening of Somalia and noted
that positive contributions of its neighbors to the process was of critical
importance for development of Somalia.

He said Eritrea, one of the neighbors of Somalia, had key position.
