Eritrean National Cross Country Championships to be held tomorrow in Keren
Eritrean National Cross Country Championships will be held in the town of Keren
tomorrow the 29th of January. The competitions will include 12K men senior, 8K
men junior , 8K women senior and 6K women junior. The winners of the
competitions are going to represent Eritrea in the IAAF World Cross Country
Championships scheduled to be held in Punta Umbría, Spain on 20 March 2011.
Eritrean Sport Leaders have been taking this National Cross Country
Championships series around the country inorder to expose eritrean youth to the
sport. Last year's competitions were held in Barentu and in 2009, it was held in
a historic city of Sheeb.
EAAA has expressed satisfaction with the rotation of the hosting cities of the
compatitions that will impact equitable growth of athletics in the country.
EAAA has been contributing into these cross country championships. EAAA had
made $3000 dollars contribution the 2009 Eritrean National Cross Country
Championships held in Sheeb and over $2000 dollars financial award for Eritrean
Female runners who represented Eritrea in the 2006-2008 World Cross Country
Championships.
All Eritrean runner have headed to Keren for the competitions. The 2009 Eritrean
National Cross Country Championships Senior Men was won by Samson Kiflemariam
and the 2010 by Teklemariam Medhin.
