Al Bashir to Launch Darfur Regional Authority in Al Fashir, Qatari Emir,
Deby, Afwerki to Attend
Khartoum - President of the Republic Omar Hassan Ahmed Al Bashir will
inaugurate the beginning of the works of Darfur Regional Authority in North
Darfur State capital Al Fashir on February 8.
The inauguration ceremony will be attended by the Emir of Qatar Hamad bin
Khalifa Al-Thani, Chadian President Idriss Deby, Eritrean President Isias
Afwerki,along with the governors of Darfur states, members of the Regional
Authority and a number of other concerned parties.
The governor of North Darfur Osman Mohamed Yousif Kibir during a broad
meeting including the members of the state’s government, security
committee, leaders of the legislative council as well as participating and
non-participating political parties, leaders of Liberation and Justice
Movement (LJM), announced that all preparations were complete for launching
the Regional Authority in Al-Fashir.
The Minister of Culture and Information, spokesperson for the state
government, Hafiz Omar Mohamed stated that he was briefed by the governor
of the state on launching the activities of the Regional Authority. he said
that the event, he described as express keenness of the government and its
partners on peace in Darfur to implement the Doha Document signed between
the government and LJM mid last July , will be graced by the President of
the Republic and their excellencies the heads of friendly and sister
states.
Mohamed said the launching of the Authority comes as confirmation of North
Darfur resident’s and other states preparedness for interacting with the
Doha Document for Peace in Darfur, which has achieved various new
political, service and developmental gains.
The spokesperson said the governor had ordered leaders who participated in
the meeting to convey the results of the meeting to their grassroots to
start preparation for reception and making the event of launching the
Authority a success. He said that a provincial decision would be issued in
this regard to form a high committee and sub-committees to be tasked with
making the ceremonies a success.
