The progress Eritrea made in producing health professionals in a short span
of time is praise worthy: Dr. Lisa Masterson
The progress Eritrea made to produce health professionals in a short span of
time on the bases of internal capacity is praise worthy, stated Dr. Lisa
Masterson, an American doctor and co-host of the popular TV series program
"The Doctors".
She expressed appreciation to the fact that Eritrea managed to establish two
Medical Schools in the last ten years and is producing competitive Medical
Doctors, and that is a vivid example for the efforts being undertaken to
ensure the health of citizens and reduce mother and child mortality rate.
Dr. Lisa, who said that when measured with international standard the
Medical Doctors produced in Eritrea are competitive, further expressed
confidence that the investment being made by the Government to construct
medical facilities and introduce modern equipment would play substantial
role in nurturing a healthy society.
As regards the competence of the recently graduated Eritrean doctors from
the Orota School of General Medicine and Dentistry, she said that they
deserve admiration for their competence, intelligence and dedication. In
this respect, Dr. Lisa stated that their contribution to the development of
the health sector is not to be viewed lightly. Such success would not have
been achieved short of the full cooperation of the people and the
Government, she added.
Expressing admiration to the country's development endeavors and the
achievements so far registered, Dr. Lisa said that she has visited Eritrea
many times and that she is highly impressed with the leading role of the
health professionals in reducing mother and child mortality rate, and that
is a practical example of the Eritrea's bright future. (Shabait: Asmara, 23
