Ethiopia, Qatar revive diplomatic relations

*Ethiopia and Qatar have agreed to resuscitate diplomatic ties five years
after the latter was accused of causing instability in the Horn of Africa
country.*
The Ethiopian Foreign Affairs ministry said the two countries reached the
agreement during on-going discussions in London.
In 2008, the Ethiopian government announced that it was severing diplomatic
ties with Qatar, citing that country's relationship with its sworn enemy,
Eritrea.
"Qatar has left no stone unturned to cause harm to Ethiopia's national
security," said the Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs then.
"All those who are prepared to foment instability in Ethiopia and undermine
the country's security have been given support and encouragement by Qatar."
Qatar at the time had denied the accusations.
Sixteen years ago Qatar and Ethiopia had agreed to establish diplomatic
ties on a non-resident ambassador level but nothing had materialised by the
time relations turned sour.
Nagotiations between the two countries have led to a consensus that will
see the two countries establishing diplomatic mission
