THE EEBC DECISION TEN YEARS LATER AND ETHIOPIA'S ILLEGAL OCCUPATION:
UN SHOULD CONDEMN ETHIOPIA FOR THE VIOLATION OF INTERNATIONAL LAW
By Yordanos
"As the world would recall the Eritrea Ethiopia Boundary Commission
delivered its decision on Delimitation of the Border between Eritrea
and Ethiopia to representatives of the two governments on Saturday,
April 13, 2002. The decision was legally delivered at a session
attended by all of the members of the Boundary Commission at the
premises of the Permanent Court of Arbitration as final and binding
ruling. However ten years later this decision has not been
implemented nor has it made any progress to the demarcation of the
boundary between the two states. The most vital question that the
world is so eager to find answers to is why? Why is this final and
binding ruling made by International Court not been implemented? Why
is Eritrean sovereign territories still occupied by Ethiopia when the
final ruling as been made?
UN would not be able to provide answers to those questions except
to prolong the current path it has chosen to take. Well the time has
come for this to end! Enough is enough!!! Eritrean Government along
with its people has been patient for far too long justice needs to be
served to the Eritrean people. UN should condemn Ethiopia for the
violation of international law, UN should use its authority
appropriately and implement the final and binding ruling which was
signed a decade ago. UN should bring justice to the world not
eradicate justice and work as a puppet to the US administration. The
Government and people of Eritrea promote and desire for peace in the
Horn of Africa and as such Eritrea has responsibly striven to defuse
the situation and pave the way for a peaceful, lasting solution.
However, the UN has chosen to support the US and Ethiopian
administration who are clearly fueling war and instability in the
Horn of Africa and in the wider world. Yet again the point that I
would like to strongly stress is for UN to condemn Ethiopia for the
violation of international law and for UN to start using its
authority appropriately and implement the final and binding ruling
which was signed a decade ago."
