THE EEBC DECISION TEN YEARS LATER AND ETHIOPIA'S ILLEGAL OCCUPATION:
YOU FAIL TO HONOR YOUR WORD, YOU FAIL TO RESPECT THE HONOR OF THE
PEOPLE YOU REPRESENT

Incredible, it is already 10 years. The emotional answer to how I
feel about the non-implementation of the EEBC Decision is anger and
mistrust towards those who shoulder the responsibility to see it
through. But there is more to it than emotions. You see, when heads
of states willingly enter into arbitration and agree to abide by the
outcome unconditionally, they do so in the name and honor of the
nation and people they represent. Therefore, on top of being legally
bound, they are honorably bound to implement the outcome no matter
how it comes out. If not, you fail to honor your word, you fail to
respect the honor of the people you represent, it becomes a mockery
of justice or it was cunning to begin with. Those (UN, US, EU, AU)
who guaranteed its implementation are responsible for the prolonged
misery of the people in the area of conflict. They too gave their
word to see to it that the Decision will be executed. Failing to do
so mean that arbitration is meaningless, you are a party to the
travesty of justice, and creating bad precedence for the future.
Needless to say, the border in question will be demarcated on the
basis of the EEBC Decision when the rhetoric (msms) on the guilty
party (Ethiopia) is over for the following reasons: (1) it is legally
demarcated, (2) it is internationally acknowledged, and (3) it is in
the interest of Ethiopia.
