Eritrea hails Iranian media coverage
Tue, 07 Oct 2008
Eritrea's
Minister of Information, Ali Abdu Ahmed has voiced admiration for
Iran's role in bringing to light the world's untold stories.
During a visit to Press TV, Iran's 24-hour English language news
channel, the Eritrean minister pointed to the monopoly of certain
powers over world media and called for giving voice to marginalized
countries.
"At this time we need to have an alternative in the mainstream and
to have the voice for the voiceless and hope to hopeless," Abdu Ahmed
said.
He called for closer cooperation with Iranian media in different fields including training media professionals.
In response to Press TV's question about the function of the
triangle of Eritrea, Somalia and Ethiopia, the minister said, "Eritrea
tries to play a positive and constructive role in the region."
He criticized the US for labeling countries who oppose its policies as supporters of terrorism or undemocratic.
