The Gorgor, Duufaan and Danab brigades of the Ogaden National Liberation
Army (ONLA) conducted a coordinated military operations in response to
increased harassment and war crimes being committed by the Ethiopian
Army in the regions of Qorahay( Qabri daharre), Jarar (Dhagaxbuur) and
Jigjiga, killing 90 soldiers and wounding more than 100 others. In those
operations more than 6 Urals military vehicles were destroyed. In
addition, the ONLA captured 67 AK47 assault rifles and 6 heavy machine
guns and large stock of ammunition. The causalities on the ONLA side
were minimal. Among the dead were a number of the leaders of the local
Militias who were doing the reconnaissance for the Ethiopian Army.
The heaviest operations occurred near the vicinity of Qabri-daharre
where the Ethiopian Army executed a girl and five teenagers in front of
the villagers near Gabagabo. The ONLA received intelligence of the
marauding Ethiopia troops and laid ambush near Farmadow, inflicting
heavy casualties on the enemy. These operations took place at Gabagabo,
Adin Libaax, Isku-Dhoonley, Toon Ceeley and Madax-Maroodi. In this area
ONLA has destroyed two Urals full of looted goods from the people in
Gabagabo. Ethiopia army in Qabri-Daharre tried, in vain, to rescue their
troops who has been trapped by the ONLA and sent reinforce but they have
been repulsed after heavy losses.
Similar punitive operations by ONLA took place in Mudulka ,between
Dhagah Madow and Dhagah Buur and Karin- Barkhadle which is between
Dhagah madow and Sagag (Nogob) and Qoloji between Jigjiga and Baabile.
In the Eastern front, the ONLA raided the town of Shilaabo near the
Jeexdin Oil field (Kalub), and killed several officers. The commander of
the Army was wounded in this operation. Further engagements are still
going on in the vicinity of Wardheer.
The Ogaden National Liberation Army will continue to defend the Ogaden
people from Ethiopian War criminals until a political settlement is
reached and the Ogaden people are given their rights to be masters of
their destiny.
