America has its National Security Agency (NSA) - Britain the Government
Communications Headquarters (GCHQ). They are sister organisation and
inextricably linked via the global interception programme known as Echelon.
Both NSA and GCHQ provide the two countries intelligence services with
electronic intelligence recovered from airwaves, space, internet and just
about any other system that sends out and receives communications.
Because of this, they are global leaders in creating and using high-end
technology, including advanced software programmes on their super computers.
But not all of it is manufactured "in-house", and some aspects of the work
conducted at Fort Meade and in Cheltenham utilises private computer
programmes. With one foot inside the world of intelligence, and the other
outside, many of the contract companies are intent on having the best of
both world's.
Because of this, the buyers of intelligence technology for GCHQ & NSA are
wary of who they do business with, after all, once uploaded and running, it
is vital intelligence collection programmes are as secure as possible. There
is another intelligence organisation that operates in an identical manner to
GCHQ & NSA, Unit 8200, the central intelligence gathering body of Isreal's
Intelligent Corp, and until recently, rarely mentioned.
Unit 8200, with an estimated operating budget of $2 billion, provides the
Mossad and Isreal's Defence Force (IDF) with signals intelligence gathered
primarily from worldwide intercepts. In September 2008, the Intelligence
Corp of the IDF celebrated its 60th anniversary. Orginally headquartered in
Jaffa. It is not known exactly what date Unit 8200 was born, nor way such a
designation was given, but its genesis can be traced to the early 1950s.
And today, virtually anyone previously employed by Unit 8200 is regarded as
" prize catch" in the civilian computer & communication sector.
In the last few years, former 8200 employees hav opened up over 50
impressive computer / communication technology companies, nearly all with
applications to security. And it is no coincidence either that the founder
of CPST, Gil Shwed, one of Isreal's youngst billionaires, just happened to
serve for four years in Unit 8200.
Other workers at CPST also originated from Unit 8200. CPST's firewall
technology is used by over 98% of all Fortune 500 companies. Several
Publishing / Media companies owned by former Unit 8200 including
Vivendi Universal Publishing Services
Saatchi / Saatachi based in New York,
Reports without Borders (RSF)
One of former Unit 8200 employee, Shlomo Dovrat, sold his technology company
to a USA competitor for over $200 million. Other companies whose genesis can
be found in Unit 8200 have sold on their firms for billions of dollars, and
at least six can be found on New York's NASDAQ. Some of Unit 8200 biggest
clients are none other than the CIA, NSA, GCHQ. Unit 8200 has a constant
flow of employees and its strategy to recruit people from across a wide
spectrum.
Another 8200 employee is Robert Menard founder of RSF. RSF - Reports without
Borders was found in 1985 by Robert Menard, Rony Brauman and the Journalist
Jean Claude Guileband, secretary General since 2008. French political
commentator Maksim has described the organization as a clumsy bomber
equipped with a golden rotor, due to the fact that even though it cannot
gain much altitude, it still can make much noise.
RSF, cladin various disguises, has all along reached out to the influential
and the powerfor attention and funding, as he remarked. A book entitled
Menard's Archive published in Canada gives a detailedis account about the
operations inside RSF. The subject interviewed in the book is a Cuban
dissident reporter, who had long been used by RSF as a shooter attacking
Cuban government. In return, he was awarded a lap top,a mobile phone, as
well as remuneration.
But when Menard asked him to describe Fidel Castro as a 'man-slaughter' in
his article, the reporter declinedsaying in so doing. Menard was, of course,
unhappy with his attitude, and very soon replaced him with a new recruit. It
can be easily found from RSF's official website that those with 'free press'
records are mostly the sponsors funding the group. RSF used to blast Taiwan
for driving away reporters from the Chinese mainland, but since Menard was
rewarded by the then Taiwan leader Chen Shui-bian a medal and a beautiful
check of US$100,000, Taiwan has since been listed among "the world's top
states and regions with press freedom."
One of RSF target is the State of Eritrea under the leadership of President
Isaiss Afeworki! In the last 8 years the positions of RSF against the people
and government of Eritrea are found in perfect correlation with the
political and media war that Washington carries out against the Horn of
Africa State.
And know RSF Secretary - General Jean-Francois Julliard is launching Radio
Erena, with Biniam Simon as chief-editor, offering news, cultural, music and
entertainment. “The glaring absence of independent news media in Eritrea
convinced us to support this historic project,” Reporters Without Borders
secretary-general Jean-François Julliard said.
A network of contributors based in London Ammanuel Iyassu, Samuel Aka'aka,
Feven Solomon Khasai in Rotterdam, providing the Paris-based staff with
Tigrinia-language programmes that are broadcast via Arabsat's Badr-6
satellite.Reporters without Borders is at the service of governments and
agencys.
Feeding off its sponsors, RSF has to show adequate loyalty and obedience to
them and working as an agent on behalf of its sponsors interests. How can an
organization that depends economically on the Unit 8200, FNAC, the CFAO,
Hewlett Packard Foundation from France, the Hachette Foundation, the EDF
Foundation, the Bank of Deposits and Consignments (la Caja de Depósitos y
Consignaciones), the Open Society Institution, the Royal Foundation Network,
Sanofi-Synthelabo (now Sanofi-Aventis), Atlas Publications, Color Club,
Globenet, and Cadena Ser be independent?
Is it possible?
