Two Djibouti swimmers go missing at worlds
Tue Jul 28, 2009 4:20pm IST
ROME (Reuters) - Two Djibouti swimmers have gone missing from the world
championships, an Italian police source said on Tuesday.
Hassan Ahmed Harbi was scheduled to race in Tuesday's 50 metres men's
breaststroke heats but did not start. Houmed Hassan Ali had been on the
entry list for the 100 freestyle in Rome.
They have been missing since Monday and police are looking for them.
Italian media reported that several North African athletes disappeared
and became illegal immigrants after last month's Mediterranean Games in
Pescara.
