*AUDIENCE*
This fund raising dinner is intended for all individuals supporting the
Physician for Peace efforts in Eritrea fall 09 trip. Trip members
include physicians
in the medical specialties of orthopedics (1), podiatry (2), podiatry
residents,(3), nurses (2) logistics / mission support / communications (1)
*GOAL*
This event is designed to fundraise money for the equipment planned to take
to Eritrea on the upcoming trip in October and to a have fun evening
together. The physicians and health care professionals are set to be
traveling to Eritrea to perform approximately sixty surgeries for the two
week period. In addition they will be providing surgical training on the
SIGN NAIL system for Dr.Semere at Halibet Hospital and educational lectures
for medical students from the Orrota Medical school in Asmara. The list
below is what they plan to take with them and some which they need the
funding to pay for.

ü SIGN NAIl System ( IM nail for fractures of the upper and lower leg)
ü Orthopedic Implants, External ring Fixators, Limb lengthening devices
ü Bone Staples, Soft Tissue anchors, Skin staples, Osteotomes
ü Surgical instruments re: forceps, surgical scissors, anesthetic
agents, skin sutures
ü Pain medications

Upon attending this event, the participant should be able to:
ü Discuss how attendees can get involved to help or take part in future
trips
ü Learn on what happens as soon they get there and how the surgeries are
scheduled
ü Review previous trips and scheduled training that will be provided
