*Dr. Aradom Conducts Seminar in Toronto*
Eritreans in the Greater Toronto Area assembled at Christie Hall on Sunday
June 6, 2010 to participate in a seminar conducted by Dr. Tesfai Aradom.
Dr. Aradom, Ph.D., LMHC is a psychologist who has been active and involved
in Eritrean communities in North America.
Dr. Aradom discussed the Eritrean people’s strength in resisting the
consistent attack on Eritrea since colonial times. He noted Eritrea’s
unwavering commitment to self reliance throughout the struggle and post
independence.
The participants were reminded that Eritrea is a responsible actor in the
Horn of Africa and in the world; it has shown consistent adherence to
international law. Despite having won its independence militarily and
morally, Eritrea conducted a referendum proving to the world that all
Eritreans (99.8%) were in favor of an independent and sovereign state.
Furthermore Eritrea’s adherence to international law was proven by its full
compliance with the Hanish Islands verdict and the EEBC verdict.
Dr. Aradom also expressed how within such a short span of time, thousands of
Eritreans assembled all over the globe to defend their country against
resolution 1907. He also discussed the role of major powers in creating or
sustaining an impressionable atmosphere in weak states so as to further
their own interests. Dr. Aradom explained that certain personalities in the
state department have personal career aspirations that render them blind to
the real issues; issues and conflicts that require solid solutions and smart
tactics are being swapped for cosmetic fixes that are not sustainable.
The seminar closed with a few questions from the participants.
