President Isaias holds talks with senior UN Official

2010 - President Isaias Afwerki today received and held talks at the Denden
Hall with the UN Under Secretary General for Political Affairs, Mr. B. Lyn
Pasco.
In the meeting, the President noted that the United Nations has major
responsibility to bring about peace and stability in the Horn of Africa, and
gave extensive briefings on Eritrea's views as regards issues in the Horn
region in general and Sudan, as well as Somalia in particular.
Moreover, President Isaias pointed out that the UN Security Council's
sanctions resolution against Eritrea was illegal, unjust and erroneous. He
further underscored that to witness an organization that failed to take any
action against Ethiopia's occupation of sovereign Eritrea territories that
continued for 8 years adopting such a baseless resolution undermines its
credibility. In this connection, the President called on the Security
Council to annul the illegal resolution and rectify the wrong move.
