Patriarch gives benediction in connection with Geez New Year
Asmara, 11 September 2010 - His Holiness Abune Dioskoros, 4th Patriarch of
the Eritrean Orthodox Tewahdo Church, gave benediction in connection with
Geez New Year.
In his spiritual message, the Patriarch congratulated members of the
Christian Faith inside the country and abroad for the peaceful transition
from the Markos era to that of Lukas. His Holiness Abune Dioskoros further
wished added strength and steadfastness to members of the Defense Force
engaged in development programs and safeguarding the nation's sovereignty.
Noting that demonstrating mutual cooperation and respect remains to be the
noble culture of the Eritrean people, he called on the general public to
extend a helping hand to disabled nationals and orphans, besides caring for
patients suffering from different diseases.
The Patriarch went on to say that the culture of hard work is the
characterstic feature of the Eritrean people and called on the youth to
honor the trust of martyrs.
His Holiness Abune Dioskoros also expressed goodwill of obtaining bumper
harvest in this year's good rainy season and wished the Geez New Year to be
a period of peace, tranquility and stability.
