Captain Berhane Haile was born on November 4, 1940, in Asmara, Eritrea to his
late parents Ato Haile Bahru and Wiezero Hajer Tesema. After completing his
elementary and high-school study in Asmara, he moved to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
and joined the Air force academy. After graduating from the Air force academy,
he served in Debreziet and Asmara Air force rising to the rank of Captain.
During his service as Captain, he earned love and respect from public and his
colleges.
In the early eighties, he left Addis Ababa and moved to Sudan, eventually
finding his way to the United States and making it his home since early 1980’s.
He was self employed in District of Colombia. Captain Berhane was a man with a
giant heart who touched many who he came in contact with. In his family and
friends, he was known for his kind and loving person. Captain Berhane served in
the Eritrean community for many years. His lost is deeply felt by his family,
friends and Eritrean community in Washington D.C area. After a brief medical
treatment at the Howard Hospital, he passed away peacefully in the presence of
his family and friends. Captain Berhane was 70 years old and a father of seven
children and nine grandchildren when he passed away on November 13, 2010. May
the Lord our God Almighty accept him in heaven.
