Qatar reconstructs stadium in Eritrea Friday, 03 June 2011 03:52

Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani and Eritrean Sports Minister
Major General Othman Ramadan inaugurated yesterday the Asmara
International Stadium, after being reconstructed by the Qatar Olympic
Committee (QOC).
The inauguration ceremony was attended by a number of ministers, Arab
ambassadors and senior Eritrean officials as well as a delegation of
the Qatar Olympic Committee.
The Qatari-Eritrean hall of friendship attached to the stadium which
will host officials and VIPs was also opened.
Later, the Qatari delegation and Eritrean officials headed to the
stadium’s main compartment where the Eritrean Military band put on a
show for the delegation before it watched a friendly game between
Qatar’s Al-Jaish and Eritrea’s Red Sea.
Major General Othman praised the strong bilateral relations between
Qatar and Eritrea. He stressed that Qatar’s contribution in the
reconstuction of the stadium is proof of the spirit of cooperation
between the two countries.
Sheikh Saoud Abdulrahman Al Thani expressed his happiness on his
visit to Asmara to celebrate the inauguration of the stadium and the
Qatari-Eritrean Friendship Hall.
