Selamat
We couldn't get the nearest train ride for Friday. They do not
operate on weekdays.
Instead we will take a 30 minute Jet boat ride on the New River. We
will get a chance to see the New River Bridge from underneath.
The departing point is Hawk's Nest State Park where we had our picnic
two years ago. For those of us who took the tram down to the river
you remember seeing the boats. That is where we will take the boats.
The first ride is at 11 a.m. and the last one is at 4:00 p.m.
Let's all aim to meet at 11:00 a.m. at the picnic site were we had
lunch last time. Had our lunch and arrange to take the boats around 1
p.m. departure. This will hopefully give us good lighting to take
pictures.
The rates for the boat ride are:
Children (4 and under) Free
Children (5 to 16) $10
Adults $25
Seniors (60 and up) $23
The tram ride fare are:
Children 5 - 16 = $2.50
Adults = $3.50
Seniors = $3.00
Hawks Nest State Park is conveniently located on the Midland Trail
Scenic Highway (Route 60). One hour east of Charleston, WV and only 8
miles west of Route 19.
