Two House Foreign Affairs subcommittees held a joint hearing to look at the
situation in Somalia. Witnesses include several current and former State
Department officials, including the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of
State for African Affairs.
Somalia's leading militant Islamist group announced recently that it has
lifted a ban on foreign aid agencies, as the Horn of Africa region has been
hit by its worst drought in 60 years.
