Bottom Line…Not All Adding Up
September 1st
First it was the miscalculated Weyane’s military adventure
against Eritrea that
crumbled; and now it is the diplomatic blitz that the Weyanes are unleashing,
hoping to score against Eritrea,
that is waiting its turn to be counterbalanced. It is a well-known fact that
the regime and its supporters are spending unbelievable amount of resources to
destroy Eritrea’s
reputation and it has become destructive pattern of behavior. Though the
weyanes and their supporters were able to score short-term victory, time will
tell if this sabotage would take a permanent step.
Accusing Eritrea
of invading her neighbors, destabilizing the region, helping the “so-called”
terrorist groups and other unfounded claims with the hope that it will stick to
galvanizing support for their ill-advised intention of harming Eritrea,
the regime and its supporters are getting closer to be running out of
allegations. The more they stockpile
allegations the more they lose their credibility. Ultimately, the world will
become weary of the regime’s and its supporters’ baseless contention against Eritrea.
Other than the hunger to destroying Eritrea’s reputation, these
unfounded allegations are motivated with the hope that they would divert
attention from the regime’s internal issues and the justification for its
supporters’ desire to continue to assisting the dying regime. Undoubtedly, the
regime’s supporters will eventually realize that their support for the dying
regime is facing a dead end. Of course, the supporters of this regime are not
only individuals. Quite a few institutions influenced by few powerful countries
have continued to lending relentless support. Why do these institutions and
powerful countries are behind the regime in Ethiopia? This is a subject that can be explored
further. The fact is that there is a fundamental interest that brings these
parties together to collaborate against Eritrea;
however, peace in the horn of Africa is not
the common denominator.
With the failed invasion of Eritrea followed by several
attempts to maneuvering the peace process to a wrong direction, after the EEBC
reached its conclusion, the Weyanes and their supporters have made numerous
futile proposals in the name of achieving peace. Requesting dialogue in an
attempt to force Eritrea
into errors and perhaps to compromising on its sovereignty, pressure was
intensified from every direction. Even parties with no desire to harm Eritrea were swindled to the point of lending
sympathy to the regime in Ethiopia.
Not knowing the legal ramification of entertaining dialogue, quite a few
supporters of the Eritrean govt. were also puzzled by the Government of
Eritrea’s rejection of dialogue. The
quest to modifying the decision by Hague, in the name of dialogue, failed to
produce anything other than making the name Lloyd Axworthy a household name in
both Eritrea and Ethiopia.
Eritrea’s
firm stand to sticking with Hague’s decision in settling the border issue with Ethiopia
and the failed “Dialogue” fiasco had forced Weyanes and their supporters to
reshuffle their cards. Here are some of the accusations they came up with: Eritrea is fighting a proxy war, Eritrea has 2,000 troops in Somalia, Eritrea
is trying to assassinate the African leaders, Eritrea is destabilizing the horn,
etc…
The Weyanes are using everything in their arsenal to achieve
their impossible dream – destroying Eritrea. In the past, they formed
partnership with Sudan and Yemen in their effort to squeeze Eritrea.
This short-lived pact with these countries produced nothing. As matter of fact,
both Sudan and Yemen
ended up mending their relationship for the better. Weyanes next chosen arsenal has become IGAD,
the organization they are able to steer with the help of their supporters. Apparently, one of the presidents of critical
members of IGAD is now having a second thought about the conspiracy the Weyanes
were concocting against a country and a president he admittedly called an
“Honorable man”. Tough it is too early
to tell what IGAD stands will be in the near future, with Sudan and Uganda
on her side, Eritrea
will be looking pretty good. After all, 50% of the members are now on the same
page and perhaps with more to follow. Knowing Weyanes’ vindictive nature one
wouldn’t be surprised if Uganda’s
president becomes the next target of the regime in Ethiopia.
Unfortunately for the Weyanes and their supporters, the
allegations they have been doctoring against Eritrea are becoming meaningless
and less-credible by the minute. The regime in Ethiopia and its supporters are the
responsible parties for these baseless assertions; therefore, it is a matter of
time before they find themselves buried beneath these allegations.
