Khartoum - The tripartite summit including Qatar, Eritrea and Sudan will
kick off in Khartoum today within the framework of reinforcing good
relations between the three countries. Qatari Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad
Bin Abdullah Al-Mahmoud announced arrival of His Majesty Emir of Qatar Hamad
Bin Khalifa Al-Thani to Khartoum today to participate in inauguration of
development projects including the continental highway linking Sudan with
Eritrea.
Al-Mahmoud confirmed superiority of bilateral relations between Sudan and
Qatar, renewing Qatar's readiness to support Sudan. "We have wide range of
development projects to be implemented in Sudan. Investment is likely to
succeed in Sudan due to vastness of rich land alongside with variety of
natural resources," added Al-Mahmoud, pointing out that Sudan is still
considered as the breadbasket of the world.
Within the context of the visit, the three presidents will inaugurate the
continental highway, Kassala-Alafa, linking Sudan with Eritrea today.
Sudan's Ambassador to Qatar Yassir Khidir said that the highway is funded by
Qatar within the framework of the efforts exerted to boost development in
eastern Sudan, adding that the three leaders of Sudan, Qatar and Eritrea
will hold tripartite summit aiming at discussing development of relations
between the three countries as well as mulling practical approaches boosting
the relations.
