Now that the East African puppet stooges have had their video conference from Weyane's headquarters, PIA should still come to NY and explain Eritrea's position.
On the surface, the sanctions do not seem all that biting and will probably not make any real, material difference. They will only serve to tarnish Eritrea's image. I can understand why PIA's office made the decision not to come given the difficulty of logistics and the fact that they knew it was going to be a Kangaroo Court. However, in my view, if the visa issued by the State Department doesn't expire for another few days, PIA and his delegation should still come to New York and set the record straight.
In particular, PIA needs to (1) Call out the monitoring group for the bogus report it put out about Eritrea trying to bomb the AU Summit in Addis. Even the Russian UN Representative, Vitaly Churkin, said he was neither impressed nor convinced by the evidence presented during his press conference yesterday. (2) Explain Eritrea's belief that the only way to bring peace to Somalia is if all the players are represented at the table and that the peace process will only succeed if it is organic and not imposed from the outside. (3) Enlighten and educate the Security Council members on the bogus, fabricated border dispute between Eritrea and Djibouti. (4) Lambast the rush to vote in imposing sanctions and the denial of due process to Eritrea. (5) Call attention to Ethiopia's continued occupation of sovereign Eritrean territory in violation of a UN Resolution,
PIA needs to do those 5 things in person at the UN Security Council soon. Otherwise, you can bet Weyane will bomb itself again in a couple of years and blame it on Eritrea and ask for a third round of sanctions against Eritrea. It is time to set the record straight.
