Upbeat Eritreans: Mekhete - gathering in San Jose, CA
By Esayas Temesgen

They came as far as from Santa Rosa, Ca. To discuss matters that
affects them most "homeland Eritrea."
The chairman - Yohannes Kahsai [Jonny], one of the pioneer community
leaders gave the stage to the guest speaker, Ms. Sophie Tesfamariam:
Sophie is a sister, most known in the diaspora for her feisty
writings that pop head on, since the launch of expansionist
Ethiopia's grand ambition of invading Eritrea and distorted
propaganda that trailed it. She ignited the audience with her humor
and view about the current affair of Eritrea.
The chat was most centered on the prevailing issue on Eritrea. The
congregation hammered the disgraceful scheme of expansionist
Ethiopia, to stop Eritrea from its economic prosperity and endanger
its sovereignty, by manipulating regional interest of big powers;
particularly the U.S.A.
This time expansionist Ethiopia has crossed the line, with its new
twisted conspiracy playing the "terrorist card," which Eritreans
found it very offensive to say the least.
Although it is a known fact that Eritrea is the first nation in the
front line to battle Al-Qaida at its inception and Al- Ithad in
Somalia. The U.S.A. has to go along with Ethiopia overlooking the
fact has worsened the situation.
Let alone after securing independence, the EPLF never resorted to
terrorism during the armed struggle. It was the most disciplined
people's army that have gone out of its way and facilitated the
people of its invaders the "Ethiopians" to over throw the fascist Derg.
The audience candidly discussed the political social and economic
state of the state of Eritrea and promised that they will carry
consecutive meetings to facilitate their projects. And continue
their Unwavering financial, physical and intellectual support to the
government and people of Eritrea.
To Eritreans this mendacity of expansionist Ethiopia is not a
surprising phenomenon, since they have survived it for the last six
decades. But what is surprising is the "partisan policy" of the
U.S.A. on Eritrea.
As for the USA: it can't go back to its pre cold - war policy on
Eritrea, after it has changed its policy and recognized Eritrea as
independent nation; Accordingly the U.S.A. has to accept Eritrea as
self-relent fierce fully independent nation and unclench its fist.
Most importantly, the United States of America should make good on
its promise and talk to Ethiopia about vacating the land it invaded
in Eritrea and implement the Alger's agreement. So that these two
African neighbors, Prosper and live in peace.
