(AGI) - Rome, Sept. 21 - Italy and Eritrea have signed a new
agreement on the status of Italian schools and their staff in
Eritrea. "This is an important outcome for relaunching the historical
Italian presence in the country," said Italy's Foreign Minister
Giulio Terzi, speaking of the positive outcome of negotiations that
Terzi personally undertook. The agreement signed today between
Italy's ambassador to Asmara, Marcello Fondi, and Eritrea's Minister
of Education, Semere Russom, defines the terms under which the
schools, and the conditions of their staff, can operate. It allows
for the immediate reopening of the schools, which had been
temporarily closed. . .
