The Eritrean music tuned to a pentatonic scale, a scale with 5 notes to the octave, is similar to Scottish, Chinese and Porto Rican music. Musical instruments in Eritrea vary from chordophone instrument such as Krar the most common instrument used throughout Eritrea. Rhythmic instruments such as drums are also common in Eritrea.
Eritrean music has grown and today and there are hundreds of musicians and singers, each bringing a unique style, featuring in the national and international scenes, who are introducing Eritrean music to the world. From Jazz to R& B, the variety has expanded.
Eritrean music has a unique rhythm that sets it apart from the rest of Africa. Eritrean musicians of the early 50s and 60s were influenced by Italian psychedelic rock and Motown soul music. During the struggle for Eritrea’s independence, music played a central role in, mobilizing and synthesizing the Eritrean peopleinside and outside of Eritrea
The tour will bring together three generations of Meqalih singers, who have mesmerized thousands with their music, and who have left an indelible mark in the hearts and minds of both Eritreans and non-Eritreans, over the years.
If "corzan" (heart) and "sueno" (dream) are the recurring themes in Spanish music, and “habibi" (darling) in Arabic music, in Eritrean music it is "Hagerey"-my country.
An explosive and energetic 180 minutes-long performance promises to surprise, seduce, and entertain all
