Ghazi Salahuddin return home ending a two day visit to Asmara
Khartoum, Oct. 16 (SUNA)- The Advisor to the President of the Republic,
responsible for the Darfur Dossier, Dr Ghazi Salahuddin and the
accompanying delegation, returned home Friday after a two day official
visit to Eritrea where he met with President Asias Afewerki and a number
of senior Eritrean political officials
Dr Ghazi met with presidential Advisor Yamani Ghabriab, the head of the
Political affairs in the ruling Eritrean People Front for Democracy and
Justice, and with Advisor Abdullah Mohamed Jabir, and the head of the
Political Affairs in the Ruling Party
Dr Ghazi and Yameni held a lengthy round of talks that lasted for over
two hours at Asmara Hotel during which they reviewed bilateral relations
and means of boosting them
In a press statement at the end of the meeting, Dr Ghazi said the two
sides reviewed in details the issues that had been discussed with
President Asias Afwerki particularly boosting of bilateral relations in
the economic, political, popular and humanitarian domains
He said the two sides agreed on invigoration of cooperation between the
two countries and coordination in regional fora and in realization of
peace and security in the region
Ghazi said he has briefed the Eritrean side on the efforts exerted for
the realization of peace in Darfur. He said the two sides have reached
understandings on the issues reviewed. On his part, Ghabriab has stated
that the visit has come on time and that the two sides have agreed to
take specific steps for the development of the bilateral relations in
the various domains
Ghabriab has said Eritrea was of the view that the issue of Darfur
should be resolved by the Sudanese people. He said his country supports
the current political talks being organized in Doha between the
government of the Sudan and the Darfur rebel movements
