President Isaias Afwerki yesterday presided over the graduation of 2,022
students from the Sawa National Vocational Training Center (NVTC), out of
whom 52% are females, who completed a year-long course in 19 different
fields. The graduates who have been following vocational training courses
in 5 schools of the Center are members of the 21st round of the National
Service Program.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony in which Ministers, PFDJ officials, Army
commanders, Regional Administrators, religious leaders, invited guests and
parents took part, the President congratulated the graduating batch,
parents, caretakers and teachers. He indicated that the commendable
technical skills acquired over the past couple of years would provide added
impetus to the national development drive.
Noting that the development programs envisaged for implementation in the
coming years are wide-ranging compared to the previous ones, President
Isaias explained that the introduction of technology, machineries and
materials are gaining momentum both in quality and quantity.
In this respect, the President pointed out that taking into account the
programs and challenges that are ahead vis-à-vis the 3 graduating batches
which the NVTC nurtured, the Center is still in its infant stage both in
terms of quality and quantity. President Isaias then called on the
graduates to further hone their newly acquired skills through practical work
and dedication.
