PRESS RELEASE:
ATLANTA-YPFDJ
On Saturday October 17th, the Atlanta chapter of YPFDJ hosted a
concert headlined by Korchach and Bekita Ali. The concert was a tremendous
success and was attended by Eritreans from across the Metro-Atlanta and as
far away as Charlotte, Jacksonville, and Nashville. This was the second
concert that these two Eritrean stars have done in Atlanta in the past 2
months and that is what makes the success of the party all the more
amazing. Although hosted by YPFDJ the success of the party was due to the
high level of participation by Eritreans from all walks of life. This was
truly a community event that highlighted one of the pillars of YPFDJ;
National Harmony.
The event was truly historic in nature in Atlanta due to the
level of participation that occurred from people that have never associated
or even heard of YPFDJ. The diversity of the attendees reflected Eritrea
itself. It was quickly realized that National Harmony is not just a YPFDJ
cause but a cause for every Eritrean to undertake. YPFDJ with the help of
the Eritrean Community Center of Georgia was also able to provide free
tickets to over 20 Eritreans who have recently migrated to Eritrea. This is
in line with our goal of Social Justice and helping any and all Eritreans.
Atl-YPFDJ has grown tremendously in the past two years and this
growth is owed to the continued support of the community. With this growth
came along knowledge and no knowledge was more important than that shared by
the late hero and patriot Minister Saleh Meki. Minister Meki shared
invaluable lessons with Atlanta YPFDJ on our recent trip to the 5th Annual
YPFDJ Conference in Washington D.C. No lesson was more greatly highlighted
than the role of the youth in the struggle for Independence. Minister Meki
further noted that it is also the role of the youth to build a strong and
prosperous Eritrea.
Atl-YPFDJ would also like to show its appreciation to all the
Eritrean and Non-Eritrean businesses and individuals that sponsored this
event and made it the success it was. Atl-YPFDJ has been making inroads in
gaining support from businesses and individuals outside the Eritrean
community and has found this to be an invaluable way to build lasting
relationships. As has been stated in the past one of the pillars of YPFDJ
is National Harmony but through this event the Atlanta community has
undertaken this goal as its own. In doing so we would like to congratulate
all the Eritreans in the Metro-Atlanta because this was OUR event!
