November 2, 2009 - New York City - Meb Keflezighi, the first American to
triumph in the New York City Marathon since 1982, is on a whirlwind media
tour after his thrilling victory in yesterday's race. This morning, Meb
Keflezighi sat down with the hosts of 'Fox & Friends' to discuss his victory
in the NYC Marathon.
Keflezighi said he still has to pinch himself to realize that he has come so
far since arriving in the United States from Eritrea in the late 1980s. Meb
became a United States citizen in 1998. During the interview, he also spoke
at length about Ryan Shay, a friend and fellow elite runner who died
suddenly at the men's marathon trials in New York City in 2007. Shay and
Keflezighi trained together for several years. "He was a very special man,"
said Keflezighi. You can see the full video at FOXNews.com

building and posed for pictures with Derartu Tulu, the women's winner of the
NYC Marathon.
