*Darka for Trading strikes gold in Eritrea*
November 17 – History was made in November when a project cargo consignment
was moved for the first time across the Sudan/Eritrea border following
landing at Port Sudan, Sudan. The consignment, an 82 tonne crane was
destined for Bisha gold mine in Eritrea.
Port Sudan-based Darka for Trading moved the urgent and essential shipment
to the mining project from the quayside. The total length of the move was
800km; the last 130km was over unmetalled roads and, as the photos show, in
places required the use of bulldozers and other construction equipment to
fix and level the uneven roads. The move took five days to complete.
In the summer, at the annual conference of the WWPC, Mohamed Osman of Darka
for Trading was elected as a new member for the project forwarding network's
Board of Advisors.
