Ethiopia's shameless voice of war

For the last two-three weeks Ethiopia has fumbled to find reason for another go at the battlefield with Eritrea. Of course, despite the lies and attacks it unleashes daily to provoke Eritrea into submission of Ethiopia's will for another human carnage, Eritrea has firmly stood its ground of resolved commitment to find peace. Now, Ethiopia has become desperate, tired of waiting for a war, and in a hurry to create another inferno of human carnage.

An article at WALTA, the Ethiopian unofficial press website, under the title of "TURN IT LOOSE", had to say the following:

"There is only one option for Ethiopia. There is no choice but to wage the war to end all wars. Clearly, Ethiopia is at a dawn of socioeconomic quantum leap. But such a transformation needs eternal peace. And so long as the disciples of Mussolini are around, peace would remain elusive in the Horn. Beloved Ethiopia, do what you must. Turn it loose!"

The phantom author of the article, after all the fuming of bravado, of course, does not have the guts to put his/her name on the bottom. Cheap journalism, unethical and disgustingly unprofessional. One, should be able to stand for his/her principles, unless one is in the circle of Ethiopians, where principles are often diluted with unsubstantiated lies.

I am particularly struck by the writer's last paragraph in the article as quoted above. I am glad WALTA INFORMATION CENTER have given the international community a glimpse of Ethiopian policy in its war with Eritrea, in raw form, undisguised by flimsy diplomatic lies. This is the true colors of Ethiopia. Now, 100 years ago, and no reason to believe that it will not be so in the future.

The writer speaks about Ethiopia's betrayed heart for the last 100 years, unknowingly displaying, the very reason (Ethiopian expansionist ideology) for its war policy against Eritrea. The border crisis, which Eritrea found out soon, was after all not a border issue but something much bigger and more dangerous, (Ethiopia's desire for the Red Sea and expansionist designs, be it under greater Tigray or greater Ethiopia).

For the international community and the world bodies who have worked diligently to bring peace between Ethiopia and Eritrea, such statements on the Ethiopian expansionist policy must change the context from which they have to approach the peace process currently underway.

Through their own admission, Ethiopia is eager and ready to unleash for the mother of all wars, against a peaceful nation who paid dearly for its freedom and nationhood.

The international community can no longer claim that the OAU peace process is a healthy and viable way to bring a solution to the border crisis. The Ethiopian Government is, clearly and loudly, saying it isn't so. Take Ethiopia's word for it! This war is not about borders. This war is instigated by Ethiopia. Ethiopia alone is the major player in the design and unveiling of this tragic war.

There is nothing left for the OAU to deal with in the peace process. The OAU has to recognize that the peace process has been dead for several months, in fact, it never was alive as far as Ethiopia was concerned. It is time for a firm hand against Ethiopia's openly and arrogantly displayed aggression. The UN Security Council have the burden of acting quickly to implement the necessary punitive measures against Ethiopia. The US has a leading role in asserting itself against the Ethiopian expansionist policy, disguised under border dispute, and deliver the peace it had told Eritrea to wait patiently.
