Why is the intent of continuing war by the TPLF or simply gamblers led regime of Ethiopia while peace has been given as an alternative choice?
Rationally let's challenge where were we? Where were they? What have we been through? What have they been up to? & finally all together were are we heading? The fate of the answer of the last question would be why they want to continue the war?
To start with, Eritrea was under the UN Security Council file like the rest of the countries in Africa. They were granted independence post-colonial era since it was believed that they could constitute identities. In the case of Eritrea, for one or another reason instead of granting independence, they federated it with Ethiopia. At the time, when Emperor the King or X Haile-Selasie was observed to violate the federal & the rights of the indigenous people of Eritrea, the people of Eritrea declared war against Ethiopia to liberate Eritrea . It was initiated by ELF and then followed by the formation of EPLF. It's obvious, an expectant mother bears children of many kinds with various ambitions. For example, one of them may like to be in the field of nationalism because of the interest in knowing what all nation about is, the other may wish to be in the managerial field where highly organizational skills is needed & so on. However, regardless whatever their exploration in life is, the idea that they have one mother is in their wisdom. While having bitter years of movement for liberation side by side, former Emperor the King or X wasn't humanitarian to the people of Tigrai either . From this stand point of view, TPLF was formed as the result of unbearable suppression . What one can argue that is this is the origination of their political gesture, unlike a gambler who takes risk of his personal possession, why are they being watched taking risks in people's future? After all they don't even have a bit record like East Timor of Indonesia to claim for. This is one of the striking question which it should have been thought. Of course it must have been thought, nevertheless, one may ask why is then the war all about? The response for the question can be approached from geo-political perspective and having to do as minor government in the country. Their future of survival is if and only if Eritrea is within the discussion, otherwise, who is going to be interested in them. Do they have political resource that they can be proud of? The response will be definitely no. For this reason, they are people of double words, double hearts...They can be taken as germs who are causing pain to the people of Eritrea and the rest of the country Ethiopia in general. As a person who is interested in people's psychology of mind, I would like you to look at an article written by Prof. Habtamu Bihonilign posted by Dehai as Ethiopia : The Tragedy Of A Country That Cannot Afford Peace.
As time went on, due to the fact of ideological interest one of my brothers became their friend , their friendship helped in a sense to break the political complexity held by Ethiopia over all those years, but aside from that they were the collaborators in dissolving out one of my other brothers since their future is always messing Eritrea as what one of their Politburo Abay Tsehaie ` says whenever they interview him, the feedback they perceive is unconstructive. As I have mentioned above, it was a conflict between children of a single mother, it could had been worked out. If it couldn't and if my other brothers don't know the very nature of these rascals, they could have exercised at least something in order to settle the old account . Instead, I would like to quote it, it was written on June 12, 1999 by Eritreans For Peace & Democracy in Europe Hence, the February 6, 1999, TPLF attack against independent Eritrea and what transpired in its aftermath, has taught us that Badme was only the tip of the ice-berg. The main goal and target of the TPLF aggressors was and is to reoccupy independent Eritrea if the TPLF and other Ethiopian chauvinist forces have the military capacity to do so. We, therefore, fully support the defensive measures being taken by the Eritrean government in order to insure the survival of independent Eritrea.`
No matter what, sarcastically we have been witnessing what has been happening in a year long war. They started their aggression mechanism using a border issue as a pretext to fulfill their expansionism dream following Eritrea's introduction of its own currency in an effort to reassure its independence. What I would like to ask is why hasn't it started before? Would they be quiet for sometime until they were fully fed assuming that Eritrea didn't issue its own currency? In my opinion I would say yes, the issuance of Eritrean currency was alarming to them in a sense that if Eritrea is on its own foot, their mentality of survival wouldn't be accomplished. What it should bear in everyone's mind is we have seen that they don't have political future to fight for that would support them as an international treaty, they don't even have valuable resource to present for. All we see, they are meddling in between from I am hungry political motivation perspective. The fight for I am hungry is over. So what should it have been next? Isn't Marxist theory ` All workers of the world Unite `.I would like to include some of the words written by an Eritrean economist Dr. Tekie Fessehazion in his article titled as` Opinion: What's the war all about? on June 9, 1999 Definitely it's not about that obscure border town called Badme. It's not about economics or disputes about the introduction of Eritrea's national currency. It's not about the inflexibility of two proud former comrade in arms, or it's not about that owfull but clever clichi, the one about two bald men fighting over a comb. No, the war has never been about any of these. Very simply , the war is about the central meaning of Eritrean independence, and national sovereignty , its essence and its very future. The war is about Ethiopia's minority government that has decided that it needs to extend its power and influence north into Eritrea because it's unsure of its future in tomorrow's Ethiopia.
`All is well that ends well ` Do you sense it that way? I don't think so. Alright, they have been discovered as group or bandits with certain objectivity, they have been trying to avert the international law, the freedom of the Eritrean people and the Ethiopian people in general. What was the outcome? Nothing other than monotonous humiliating defeat. We have seen their military adventure using poor Ethiopians as cannon fodder. Amazingly enough, what makes them peculiar violating international laws and ignoring peace called by the international communities. Aren't we approaching the millennium where you have to feed yourself rather than to be fed? In principle, we understand conflict as a cause of unsustainable development, arms, competition and armed conflict create major obstacles to sustainable development. On the contrary, I was catching a recent report by UN-famine representative in Ethiopia, the war has nothing to do with the famine was the response they have been given when the government was asked if war has intensified the famine. Ludicrous ! Are they going to tell us it's only as a result of El Ni`no like the drought of Texas in USA?
In conclusion, I would like to call all Eritreans all over the world to fully support morally and materially to the government of Eritrea. As what president I. Afewerki remarked ` Eritrea will work indefatigably for peace, however, every Eritrean in every corner of the world should remain vigilant `. These are disease that they have stood to fade your integrity as a nation. Furthermore, it's up to the international communities now to pressurize them in whatsoever way to bring them on the table before we see another horrendous human causalities. Their activity is unlawful and against the environment.
