1. Two hundred forty three Eritreans deported from Ethiopia through Burie arrived in Assab yesterday. The Eritreans were rounded up from the Nazareth, Awassa, Shashamene, Zewai, Meki, Alemtena, Asela and other towns where many of them had resided their entire lives. Deportees were imprisoned for up to a month prior to their deportation. All the deportees said that their cash and valuables had been taken by government officials well before they were deported. Forty nine thousand five hundred (49,500) Eritreans have now been deported from Ethiopia.
