1. The ministerial committee of the member states of the OAU high level delegation on the dispute between Ethiopia and Eritrea issued a communiqué on August 2, at the end of its two-day meeting in Ouagadougou. The committee reviewed the report of the committee of ambassadors, which visited Eritrea and Ethiopia from June 30 to July 9 on a fact-finding mission. It also held a series of separate talks with the ministers of foreign affairs of the two countries. The ministerial committee is next expected to submit its recommendations to the heads of states of the OAU high level delegation "for their consideration and action as they deem appropriate," the communiqué stated.

2. In the first six months of the year 1998, around eight thousand job seekers in Eritrea were employed, Idris Aba-Are, head of the Department of Labor, said yesterday. Although the number of vacancies during this period was 10,778, over two thousand of them could not be filled because the job seekers did not meet the required qualifications. In the first six months of 1998, 582 foreigners were employed in Eritrea.
