Announcement for Expellees Living Abroad
As you are aware, the peace agreement signed by Eritrea and Ethiopia on 12 December
2000 established a Claims Commission located in The Hague. The Commission's
purpose is to determine what compensation is due as a result of violations of
international law that occurred during the conflict.
As a part of Eritrea's case, it will be necessary to gather information from
people expelled from Ethiopia and other individuals who had property confiscated
by the Ethiopian government after April 1998. We believe that many of those
people are now living abroad. If you have been expelled, had left Ethiopia voluntarily,
or had your property confiscated, please contact the Eritrean Embassy in your
country in which you live to complete an initial interview form.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
