Eritrean delegation arrives in Addis Ababa

Addis Ababa, August 10, 2018 (FBC) - Eritrean delegation led by Foreign Minister Osman Saleh and Presidential Adviser Yemane Gebre-ab arrived in Addis Ababa today.

According to Yemane Gebremeskel, Eritrea’s Minister of Information, the delegation will deliver message from President Isaias Afwerki to Prime Minister Dr Abiy Ahmed.

They will also discuss progress of implementation of the agreement signed between Ethiopia and Eritrea, Yemane said on Twitter.

Ethiopia and Eritrea normalized ties recently, ending 20 years of enmity.

The two countries signed agreements to open embassies, restore flight services and for Ethiopia to use port facilities in Eritrea.

Eritrea reopened its embassy in Ethiopia last month. Ethiopian Airlines also resumed commercial flight to Eritrea’s capital Asmara.

The United Nations, African Union, IGAD, and various countries lauded the diplomatic breakthrough between the two countries.

Eritrean Foreign Minister Osman Saleh and Presidential Advisor Yemane Ghebreab arrived today in Addis Ababa on a working visit. The delegation was welcomed at Bole Airport by Dr. Workneh Gebeyehu, the Foreign Minister of Ethiopia.
