SIMNIONIW, Christina (Tsegreda)

Christina passed away peacefully on August 17, 2017 at the Hospice House surrounded by loved ones. Christina (Tsegreda) was born to Emmanuel Ghebrehiwet and Leteyesus Ghebray on October 14, 1953 in Asmara, Eritrea. As a child, Christina attended school in Asmara, Eritrea. In high school she excelled in bookkeeping. She was a faithful member of the Asmara Evangelical Lutheran Church where she sang in the children's and youth choirs.

Her family was her world. She enjoyed spending her free time tending to her beautiful flower gardens. The hummingbirds that frequented the yard held a dear place in her heart. Holidays were always special to Christina and her house was always decorated beautifully. Christina was the ultimate hostess and spoiled her family, friends and co-workers with wonderful food and delicious baked goodies. Christina dedicated her career to Rockwood Retirement for 36 years. The residents and staff there meant the world to her.

Christina was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband of 17 years, Dean; her four brothers: Tsegai Emmanuel, Beyene Emmanuel, Bereket Emmanuel and Mehreteb Emmanuel; by four sisters: Tebereh Emmanuel, Hiwet Emmanuel, Berekty Emmanuel and Lelu Emmanuel whom reside in Texas and Louisiana. She is also survived by multiple nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews who all loved her dearly.

Christina was loved by many and will be dearly missed. She was as graceful in her death as she was in her life - a true inspiration. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, August 26th, at All Saints Lutheran Church - 314 S. Spruce St. The family would like to thank Hospice of Spokane and Sacred Heart Hospital - Cancer unit for the excellent care and kindness she received during her stay there. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Spokane in her name. Published in Spokesman-Review on Aug. 24, 2017
