Somali media identified the ONLF rebel commander as Abdihakim Sheikh Muse aka Qalbi Dhagah, who was arrested by the Galmudug police at the town of Galkacyo two weeks ago and was transferred to Adaado, the interim capital of the Galmudug state of Somalia.

Later, members of the Somali National Intelligence Agency took him to a detention center in Mogadishu, before he was handed over to Ethiopia on Monday. Qalbi Dhagah was flown to Baidoa, where Ethiopian troops were stationed, then later taken with a military plane from Baidoa to Ethiopia’s Nazaret, local media reports said citing interviews of people with knowledge on the subject.

Ethiopia had previously been in agreement with Puntland and Somaliland authorities over prisoner swap and the hunt of the ONLF members in those areas.

However, Somalia recently signed an agreement of transfer of prisoners with several countries among them India and Ethiopia.  Ethiopia  through that agreement  handed over 114 prisoners to Somalia government in late July.
