South Sudan's President Salva Kiir is expected to meet his Eritrean counterpart Isaias Afwerki in Asmara on Saturday.
The visit aims to be part of the positive changes in East Africa and the strengthening of inter-State relations in IGAD.
The agenda for Kerr's visit is not immediately known, but common images of social media show the flags of the two countries flying side by side on the street lights in Asmara, as was the case when Ethiopian and Somali leaders visited in recent months.
The Ethiopian prime minister arrived in Asmara on a two-day official visit in July, during which Ethiopia and Eritrea saw peace after two decades of fighting.
Somali President Mohamed Abdullah Mohamed Faramago, who was on a visit to Asmara, visited a three-day official visit in late July. In both cases, Eritrea has restored all friendly and neighborly relations with the countries of the visiting leaders.
