KASPERKIEWICZ RUSHES TO THE VICTORY IN RWANDA, MERHAWI KUDUS REMAINS THE LEADER

FRIDAY, MARCH 1, 2019 AT 12:37

The sixth stage of the Tour du Rwanda has resulted in a Polish winner. Przemysław Kasperkiewicz proved stronger in the finish streets of Nyamata than the Spaniard Pablo Torres and the Algerian Youcef Reguigui. Merhawi Kudus experienced little stress on the road, and remains a leader.

The riders were allowed to prepare today for a 121.1 kilometer long stage. The start was in Musanze, the finish in Nyamata. For the second day in a row, a leading group remained ahead. And that's good, because with 25 kilometers to go, the lead of the nine escapees was only one and a half minutes.

Yet Kasperkiewicz and co managed to stay out of the clutch of the peloton. In the end it was the Pool of Delko-Marseille Provence who managed to race to victory. For the 25-year-old rider it is his first victory in almost two years. In 2017 he won stages in the An Post Rás and Le Tour de Bretagne.

Two more stages

It is not surprising that Kasperkiewicz wins today, as he was close to victory earlier this week. In this way he already finished on the podium in the first two stages. The leader's jersey remains in the possession of Kudus. The 25-year old rider from Astana has to survive two more stages. Tomorrow the peloton is heading to Kigali.

Pre-race favorite MeraKudus of AstanaTeam keeps the yellow jersey
