Annual Midwest Conferences of Eritrean organizations (PFDJ 1 and 2, NUEW, and yPFDJ/Hidri) in Minnesota

Report of the annual conference of Midwestern region of the United States of America
April 22, 2017

Eritrean Americans in the Midwestern region of the United States of American (USA) conducted their annual conference today, April 22, 2017, in the Twin Cities area of Minnesota. Members of The People’s Front for Democracy and Justice (PFDJ), National Union of Eritrean Women (NUEW), and young People’s Front for Democracy and Justice with youth members Hidri gathered in the Eritrean Community Center of Minnesota (ECCM) to kick off this annual conference.  Excellencies Berhane Ghebrihwet, Charge d’ Affairs of the Eritrean Embassy in the United States, and Dawit Haile, Head of Communal Affairs of Eastern United States at the Eritrea Embassy officially opened the conference by cutting an honorary ribbon to the newly renovated and beautified hall of the center. Mr. Dawit Solomon, President of the Eritrean Community in Minnesota, welcomed the participants of the conference to ECCM and gave briefing of the efforts that were taken to make the building ready for this conference. As they toured the building, participants of the conference who came from thirteen different states of the Midwestern region, expressed their admiration to the board members of the ECCM for their leadership and commitments.

  In the annual conference, participating organization of PFDJ, NUEW, and Young PFDJ/Hidri presented their annual work reports by providing a thorough and honest assessments (challenges and opportunities) of the activities of each organization in the last year. In addition, the organization discussed and mapped out tasks for the coming year to enhance and strengthen the organizational foundations of the organizations.
 On their part, excellencies Berhane Ghebrihwet, and Dawit Haile gave a detailed seminar on the current situation of the home land to the participants. His excellence Berhane Ghebrihiwet touted participants to increase their efforts and strengthen the core principles of the National Charter of the People’s Front for Justice and Democracy in each day of their work. He stressed the importance of raising the consciousness of every member of the national organizations, PFDJ and NUEW, to accomplish future goals of the front.

Conference attendees of the PFDJ, NUEW, and Young PFDJ/Hidri expressed their readiness, promising to increase the hard work needed to achieve the national endeavors of the state of Eritrea. They also pledged to engage the broad base of Eritreans in the Diaspora in matters of national goals, strengthen respective organizational structures, and steadfastly take part in implementing current and future economic plans and policies of the state of Eritrea.
 Annual conferences of PFDJ, NUEW, and Young PFDJ/Hidri of the Midwestern region of the USA concluded on April 23, 2017. The conference unanimously agreed to support the following resolution:
1. Renew our pledges to our Martyrs
2. Pledge to renew and strengthen our national organizations.
3. Pledge to double all efforts to foil all forms of hostilities directed against Eritrea.
4. Commend the Eritrean governments efforts in remaining steadfast to all forms of hostility and safe guarding Eritrea by engaging in smart diplomacy.
In addition, in a campaign to raise funds for E-READER in Adi Halo, conference participants and the general public gathered for open seminar by his excellence Birhane Ghebrihwet, raised $ 10,400 USA dollars for the purchase of 80 E-READERs.
