Sudanese Minister of Foreign Affairs Mariam Sadiq al-Mahdi has stressed on Thursday that her government is not willing to make compromises that affect the sovereignty and borders of its country.
She also reaffirmed that Sudan will not give up one inch of its land, official SUNA news agency reported.
Al-Mahdi pointed out that her government seeks to create a foreign policy based on an equivalent relationship with the African and regional neighborhood and the international community to remove Sudan from isolation.
My mission is to restore Sudanese diplomacy with its established traditions so that the foreign ministry becomes an honorable destination for the country, allowing it to restore ties with foreign powers.
Al-Madhi arrived in South Sudan’s capital, Juba, on Thursday, where she met with President Salva Kiir Mayardit, her counterpart Beatrice Khamisa Wani-Noah and presidential adviser on security affairs Tut Gatluak.
The officials discussed bilateral relations and means to develop them in all fields.
The visit, which came one year after the formation of the National Unity Government in South Sudan, seeks to bolster bilateral ties and review issues of common interest.
It also seeks to reflect Sudan’s willingness to sponsor sustainable peace in Juba.
During the meeting, the officials discussed revitalizing trade and economic relations, drafting agreements to cooperate in various fields.
