Eritreans & Friends in Support of Annullment and Repeal of the Unjust UN Security Council Resolution 1907 (2009) of December 23, 2009-
February 22, 2010

We are signing this petition to show our support of the Eritreans and friends of Eritrea who are marching, February 22, 2010, in Geneva (Switzerland), San Francisco & Washington DC (USA) as well as Melbourne (Australia) to protest the unjust UN Security Council Resolution 1907 (2009) that imposed sanctions against Eritrea. We urge the UN Security Council to reverse this unjust measure against the Eritrean people based on fabricated information. We are aware that these sanctions were based on charges well known to be groundless. The UN Security Council is aware that the problems of Somalia are not of an Eritrean making but those of myopic policies and reckless neighbors who do not wish the reconstitution and unity of Somalia. The Eritrean people shouldn't be punished for the sins of others. Please try to exercise fairness and carefully evaluate all the facts and evidence to find a lasting peace in the Horn of Africa and you should avoid falling into the trap of those who pretend to wish well for Somalia but instead are trying to destroy it. They are trying to kill two birds with one stone, to destroy both Eritrea and Somalia. Act wisely, the lives of innocent people are at stake. We want to remind you that sanctions against Eritrea will not bring peace to the war ravaged Horn of Africa; in fact this is a reckless act designed to reignite existing simmering conflicts and to create new ones. At the same time we urge the Security Council, the United States Government, the European Union, and the African Union as the guarantors of the Algiers Agreements of 2000, must fulfill their legal and moral obligations to enforce the Eritrea-Ethiopia Boundary Commission (EEBC) final and binding Delimitation of April 13, 2002 and the Virtual Demarcation from November 30, 2007 without preconditions or further delay. The International Community must force Ethiopia to respect the rule of law. You must act now to avoid another disaster in the Horn of Africa, which would greatly undermine and jeopardize the much urgent efforts in the global war against terrorism.
