President Isaias presides over graduation ceremony at National Vocational Training Center in Sawa

Sawa, 22 November 2008 - President Isaias Afwerki said that vocational training programs in the country are gaining momentum from year to year both in terms of quality and quantity. Still, a lot remains to be accomplished to attain the desired goal, he elaborated.
The President made the statement in a graduation ceremony today at the National Vocational Training Center in Sawa. After congratulating the graduates, parents, teachers and trainers, he pointed out that qualitative improvement has been registered in this yearĘs academic year compared to the previous year. President Isaias said that the active participation of youths, especially women in the course attests to the realization of the set target.
Stressing the due contribution of the ongoing training programs in national development, the President noted, however, that a lot remains to be accomplished so as to nurture skilled manpower in the next five to ten years. He also reminded the graduates to live up to the nationĘs expectation.
Also speaking at the graduation ceremony, Col. Ezra Woldegebriel, Commander of the Sawa Training Center, indicated that gratifying achievements have been scored in national reconstruction and economic emancipation endeavors thanks to the substantial investment made in nurturing the youth. He called on the graduates to make good of the knowledge they had acquired in serving the nation and the people with devotion.
Likewise, the Director of National Vocational Training Center, Mr. Fisehaye Kidane, stated that a total of 792 students, of whom 49% are females, received training over the past 10 months in 18 different fields that comprise the commerce and management, agricultural technology, construction and modern agricultural machinery, among others.
President Isaias, ministers and other officials awarded prizes to those graduates who demonstrated excellence in their studies.
