IGAD agrees sanctions against Yusuf

*Ministers of the Inter Governmental Authority on Development (IGAD) have
agreed to impose sanctions against Somali President Abdullahi Yusuf. *
IGAD that is the regional body spearheading the Somali peace process
condemned the president's action for appointing new prime minister Mohamed
The IGAD ministers made the decision after a meeting in Addis Ababa on
Sunday, a Press TV correspondent reported.
The African Union and the US have backed Prime Minister Nur Hassan Hussein,
refusing to recognize the new Somali premier.
IGAD also has not recognized the new premier and said it supported Kenya's
intention to take action against President Yusuf and urged other member
states, the AU and the United Nations to take similar steps.
Earlier this week, Kenya said it could impose a travel ban and asset freeze
on the Somali president and his family.
On Monday, the AU's Peace and Security Council are to meet in Addis Ababa to
