The diplomat was accompanied by Minister Plenipotentiary Giuseppe Mistretta, Central Director for Sub-Saharan Africa and by the Honorary Consul of Eritrea, Francesco Paolo Bello. 

The meeting was also attended by the mayor of Lucca, Alessandro Tambellini, the vice president of the Province, Maurizio Verona, the provincial commander of the Carabinieri Giuseppe Arcidiacono, the manager of the territorial school office, Donatella Buonriposi and the president of the Banca del Monte di Lucca Foundation , Oriano Landucci. The meeting ended with a visit to the monumental halls of Palazzo Ducale, where the ritual exchange of gifts took place.

It was an opportunity for an exchange of evaluations on the main themes of common interest and to provide the visiting diplomat with a picture of the historical, cultural and productive peculiarities of the territory.
