America the Brutal
29 December 2024, by Eric Zuesse. (All of my recent articles can be seen here.)
On December 28th, the Washington Post headlined “‘Baby in a dumpster.’ A spate of abandoned newborns unsettles Texas. Critics say these cases are no coincidence in a state with one of the nation’s most restrictive abortion bans and near-bottom rankings on women’s health care.” That article probably was published there because the newspaper’s owner, the anti-labor-union pro-monopolist liberal centi-billionaire Jeff Bezos, sincerely does find repugnant this extreme exemplification of inequality-of-opportunity, which won’t even allow such an unlucky newborn infant to live, but instead consigns him or her to an immediate death expiring helplessly in a trash-bin. But why, then, did this liberal Washington state billionaire donate $100,000 (one-ten-thousandth) of his $100,000,000,000 fortune, in 2010, to a very successful and super-rich-funded campaign, “Defeat 1098” campaign whose head, the Republican Scott Stanzel, was one of Bezos’s employees at Amazon Corporation? One reason why most of Washington state’s billionaires live there is that the state has no income tax and it caps (limits) property-taxes on the super-rich. But shouldn’t those billionaires be forced out and penalized heavily on their way out, because they overwhelmingly are driving the tax-burden up on everyone else who lives there? It’s exactly the OPPOSITE of “progressive taxation”: in Washington state, the tax-burden upon billionaires is lower than upon everybody else, who pay higher taxes (though also no state income tax, but all other types, which therefore have to be charged at higher rates because of this tax-favoritism towards the super-wealthy) in order to fund the state’s government. This is how America’s ‘philanthropists’ scam the public by their ‘generosity’ or ‘charities’, which provide them with special tax-advantages while pumping how ‘generous’ they are to the public, and while themselves having the collective-bargaining rights (the owners and management working together) against their workers while campaigning constantly AGAINST allowing their workers to have any such rights against those stockholders and managers — the agents of the corporation’s controlling stockholders (who typically are billionaires).
The initial polls on that ballot measure were 66% in favor of it in April 2010, but ended up being 56% against it in October 2010, and the measure in the final balloting on November 2010 was 64.15% “No”; 35.85% “Yes”. (This was NOT democracy at work. It was “managed consent” and its managers were the billionaires.)
Heavily disadvantaging the poor (including especially those dumpster babies) is simply the way that the American system works. It’s the new form of slavery. Billionaires control the U.S. Government: it’s for them and the centi-millionaires but NOT for the poorer 99.9% of the American people. Right now, America’s richest person, who donated around $250 million to Trump’s campaign against the Democratic Party’s billionaires’ Kamala Harris campaign for the Presidency, Elon Musk, is winning Trump’s backing to allow U.S. employers to hire highly trained foreign workers to compete for their top jobs, instead of to improve America’s schools so that Americans — people who have gained such skills 100% IN AMERICA — will have those skills. If Trump goes along with this type of ‘Make America Great Again’, then only fools will have any trust in him any longer, but maybe this is one of the reasons why America’s billionaires want Americans to be such fools.
And it is not ONLY dumpster babies who acutely suffer America the brutal. For example, in America’s least-regressive state, the one that has the ‘progressive’ Bernie Sanders as a Senator, Vermont, there are now, during the winter, constant reports of individuals who are homelessness dying from their homelessness. On 5 December 2024, the Montpelier Bridge dot Org headlined “Unhoused Couple Found Dead in Tent”, and reported that the couple was found dead in their tent in Wolcott, Vermont, on November 27, 2024. The cause of death is unknown, but no foul play is suspected. The Menards had to leave a state-funded motel room earlier in the fall when their voucher ended. The state’s Republican Governor, Phil Scott, a self-made “up by your own bootstraps” millionaire, had various excuses for it, but when WAMC-FM radio in neighboring New York state reported on 5 December 2024 about the incident, the report closed with a reply from:
End Homelessness Vermont Executive Director Brenda Siegel [who] says five people have died in the elements [perhaps intended to mean outdoors] across Vermont over the past week. She says there are numerous shelter options the state could pursue.
“The hotel program is absolutely not the only option that we have out there. We can use tiny homes that are built into transitional or permanent housing. We can utilize PODS more. We can utilize dormitories. We can build up more single room occupancies. We can decide that funding for vouchers can also go to funding for alternative rental subsidy when someone doesn’t have Section 8. We have several opportunities to do many different things, but we have to be willing to look at all those,” Seigel said. “The trade-off for getting these things on line cannot be people’s lives and right now we traded people’s lives for a policy that is frankly not more fiscally responsible.”
Siegel estimates that at least 3,000 shelter beds are needed in Vermont.
Siegel had run as the Democratic Party’s candidate for Vermont Governor in 2022 and lost to Republican Scott in his landslide re-election contest, by 71% Scott to 24% Siegel. That’s even worse than Washington state’s 64.15% “No”; 35.85% “Yes” 2010 ballot-measure result — especially because Vermont gave a higher percentage of its Presidential vote to Biden in 2020, and to Harris in 2024 (both times to the Democratic Party’s billionaires’ candidate), than did any other state. Obviously, Vermonters (America’s most liberal voters) don’t care very much about the homeless.
On 29 February 2024, Cal Matters dot Org headlined “It’s now significantly more deadly to be homeless. Why are so many people dying?” and reported:
IN SUMMARY
The mortality rate for unhoused Americans more than tripled in 10 years. New data makes clear lives are at stake as California leaders try to combat the homelessness crisis.
For many people, living on the streets of California is a death sentence.
That’s according to a recent study that took the first deep look into mortality rates in homeless communities throughout the country. It found the death rate more than tripled between 2011 and 2020. The findings make it clear that at the same time the number of homeless Californians is soaring, it’s also becoming more dangerous to be homeless. And it means the stakes are sky-high when it comes to state and local efforts to combat the crisis: People’s lives are on the line.
And then, of course, there are foreign policies, such as America’s barbarous fully lie-based invasions of Iraq in 2003, Libya and Syria in 2011, and coup in Ukraine in 2014 (which started the war there), and, now, since 2023, America’s arming Israel to carry out the genocide to eliminate all Gazans.
Furthermore, all of America’s billionaires hate and want to conquer Russia, but is Russia more democratic, and does it have a better Government for its people, than America does? I don’t know; I’ve never been there, and I am no expert on Russia, but here are the statistics that I have found specifically on homelessness:
HOMELESSNESS in Russia v. U.S.:
Russia had 64,077 homeless in 2010 but 11,285 homeless in 2021.
U.S. had 637,077 homeless in 2010 and 582,462 homeless in 2022.
Russia has 144,820,423 people; U.S. has 345,426,571 people.
If America in 2010 had the same percentage homeless as Russia did in 2010, it would have had 144,660 homeless then. If America in 2021 had the same percentage homeless as Russia did in 2021, then it would have had 26,666 homeless then.
America’s record on homeless is simply atrocious.
So, if this isn’t a “brutal” country, then what IS?
PS: If you like this article, please email it to all your friends or otherwise let others know about it. None of the U.S.-and-allied ‘news’-media will likely publish it (nor link to it, since doing that might also hurt them with Google or etc.). I am not asking for money, but I am asking my readers to spread my articles far and wide, because I specialize in documenting what the Deep State is constantly hiding — what the ‘news’-media ignore if they can, and deny if they must. This is, in fact, today’s samizdat.

Investigative historian Eric Zuesse’s latest book, AMERICA’S EMPIRE OF EVIL: Hitler’s Posthumous Victory, and Why the Social Sciences Need to Change, is about how America took over the world after World War II in order to enslave it to U.S.-and-allied billionaires. Their cartels extract the world’s wealth by control of not only their ‘news’ media but the social ‘sciences’ — duping the public.
